The Affordable Spring Dollar Tree DIY That Looks Incredibly High End
Want to celebrate the fact that the warmer months are fast approaching? Creating a spring décor piece might be the perfect way to express your excitement. These kinds of additions to your living space can go a long way toward ensuring that your home is welcoming and refreshingly up-to-date. Luckily, you can DIY an affordable spring vase for faux flowers with a roll of jute twine, some wooden beads, and a Catering Corner Plastic Trifle Container from Dollar Tree. The result looks incredibly high end, and is sure to become one of your new favorite living room décor ideas.
In addition to your candy dish, beads, and twine, you’ll need some hot glue and a pack of Cooking Concepts Bamboo Skewers to complete this DIY. You’ll also want to get two types of burlap ribbons. One should be narrow, and the other should be larger and wider. You’ll essentially need to glue the skewers around the outside of the dish, and then wrap them up with the twine, ribbons, and beads. With its uniquely layered design, the completed décor piece will look surprisingly trendy and expensive. Plus, it’s practically guaranteed to help refresh your home for spring. Learning how to make your artificial flowers look real will also allow you to elevate the look of the decoration even further.
How to DIY an elegant spring vase
To begin putting together this seasonal décor piece, start by hot gluing your wooden skewers down vertically around the outside of your candy dish. You should leave a gap of 1-2 inches between each skewer. Make sure to use an odd number of sticks so that your jute twine weaves through them correctly. Next, tie the end of your twine around the base of one of your skewers. Then, weave the twine around every other stick, and continue circling the dish until the twine is about a quarter of the way up the sticks. Put a trio of different-sized wooden beads onto each stick. Once that’s done, you can begin with a new layer of twine, applied in the same manner as before. Stop when you’re about two-thirds of the way up the sticks, and put another round of wood beads on each skewer. Then, you can resume weaving until you’ve covered all but the tops of the sticks.
To finish off the top of the project, use hot glue to affix your narrow burlap ribbon to the outside of the remaining segments of your skewers. Then, repeat this process on the inside, so that the ribbon is on both sides of the sticks. Lastly, glue down your wider ribbon around the candy dish bowl, and tie it into a bow. To make your décor piece perfect for cherry blossom season instead, try using some pale pink craft paint on your wooden beads.
