It’s a fresh take from the chrome obsession into something more moodier and space-age. Shoppers are obviously obsessed, as Etsy reports that there was more than a 400% increase in crystal mug searches and a whopping 600% increase in half-moon lamp searches. Maybe it’s all the sci-fi movies and TV shows streaming on devices, but the futuristic feel of galactic metallic is most definitely in. 

With galactic metallic trending, you’ll see a lot of smoky grays and galaxy-glazed deep blues that remind you of the rich and deep hues of a star-studded evening sky. There will also be a ton of iridescent jewelry pieces as well as liquid-like silver jewelry that shimmer with an out-of-space-like glow this summer.

This trend is all about light and texture and gives a feel of being modern while also magical. But can we really pull this galactic metallic trend off in our homes? 

Good news to sci-fi lovers: you can, indeed, bring the galactic metallic trend into your home. And no, you don’t need to turn your living room into a spaceship to do it. The key to incorporating this trend into your space is to ensure such pieces are accents to your existing space. You can start in the heart of your home and add a shimmery metallic serving tray or a metallic utensil holder on top of your island.
