Declutter Your Kitchen Cabinets With A Dollar Tree DIY Lazy Susan

Finding things in your kitchen cabinets can be a pain, especially when you are in a hurry. Cabinets with lots of small containers, like spices, can be especially difficult to navigate due to things getting shuffled toward the back over time. Not only can this be frustrating, but it can make the cabinets feel cluttered and chaotic. You may even find yourself buying items you already have because of things getting lost in the sheer disorganization. Lazy Susans are a kitchen’s best friend and a popular solution to the cluttered kitchen cabinet problem, but they can cost anywhere from several dollars to $25 or even more for specialty ones. However, with a couple items from Dollar Tree, at only $1.25 a piece, you can make your own lazy Susan to help you organize your kitchen cabinets while saving you some money in the process.

This nifty hack involves securing a plate to a fidget spinner. All you need is a plate, fidget spinner, and hot glue gun. For it to work best, you will want to use a completely flat plate, such as Dollar Tree’s Luminessense glass plate candle holder or a pie pan. Otherwise, your kitchen items will be at risk of tipping over and falling off the lazy Susan. You could even get creative with something like the metal bottle cap wall decor, as long as it fits inside your cabinet. While not sold online, also look for fidget spinners at your local Dollar Tree. Even better, if you’ve got a plate to spare and a fidget spinner that isn’t being used, you may be able to do this as a completely free upcycle.

How to make a lazy Susan from Dollar Tree items

Making your own lazy Susan is a fun project with lots of customization options. Put it to good use as one of the clever in-cabinet storage hacks to organize your coffee mugs. Your DIY will work without any adjustments to the fidget spinner, but you could remove its top button with a knife or flathead screwdriver if you’d like more surface area to glue. Then, with a hot glue gun, apply glue to that side of the fidget spinner and press it onto the center of the underside of a plate. When the glue dries, flip the unit over, and you’ve got yourself a DIY lazy Susan.

If you want to make a double-decker lazy Susan, hot glue a short cylindrical object, like a glass taper candleholder or porcelain pillar candleholder, to the center of the plate and affix an additional plate on top of it. This lazy Susan hack isn’t just great for keeping kitchen cabinets organized; you can use it to declutter your bathroom cabinets or pantries, as well. This is also a wonderful idea for desktops to ensure your small office supplies, like paper clips and pens, are at hand.
