Perfectly Dupe An Anthropologie Candle Holder With An IKEA Project

From hand-tufted rugs to charming photo holders to posh embroidered pillows, Anthropologie is known for its elegant and trendy home décor. You can turn to Anthropologie to make all of your contemporary, bohemian, and mid-century modern design dreams come true. Among the pros and cons of buying home décor at Anthropologie are that the pieces easily deliver on style, but their price point can often ride on the high end. So if you’re on a budget, you may be more likely to admire their home pieces in the store, and nothing more. The good news is, in the same way there are IKEA hacks to organize and transform your storage, there are plenty of budget-friendly DIYs to recreate your favorite Anthropologie décor. Accordingly, you can perfectly dupe Anthropologie’s daffodil candle holder with a project using a candle stick from the store’s more affordable counterpart: IKEA.

Candles are a beautiful addition to soften up a space and make it comfortable and relaxing, but how they’re displayed can make all the difference. Anthropologie’s adorable daffodil candle holder is equal parts quirky and elegant, and can make a dull counterspace or coffee table stand out. For this project, you’ll need to have general skills in crafting clay art as well as painting. As far as products go, you will need the IKEA SILVERPÄRON candle stick, polymer or air dry clay (like the Air-Hardening Modeling Clay), acrylic craft paint, and UV resin, like the KISREL Upgraded UV Resin Kit. You’ll need candles, such as thin taper candles that can fit snugly in the SILVERPÄRON.

How to make an IKEA dupe of the Anthropologie candle holder

Whether you prefer a functional DIY candle centerpiece to brighten up your space or want to give the appearance of an expensive candle holder, this IKEA hack can add charm to any room. Since resin is being used in this project, wear a mask and other protective gear, like gloves, to avoid touching it or inhaling harmful fumes. An Xacto knife can give you the precision needed for the flower petals.

Over on Instagram, user @tinalemac used air dry clay and carved out the shape of the flowers. While an affordable air dry clay is used, it’s good to note that this product tends to chip and break over time, especially if it’s exposed to heat or used with candles. For that reason, consider using polymer or epoxy clay for this hack, which are both safe to use around heat. Keep in mind that polymer clay will need to be baked in order to cure. However, if you choose air clay, you may want to use tealights in the candle holder.

After carving out the clay flowers, insert them onto the IKEA SILVERPÄRON candle holder and stand it upright with a piece of cardboard to allow the clay to dry. Then, paint the petals and the SILVERPÄRON legs using acrylic paint to imitate the Anthropologie candle holder, and once dry, apply UV resin to the flower petals. For a sustainable resin option, you may opt for bio-based epoxy resins as a finish.
