In the short clip the wide-eyed hound is desperately trying to get away from the tiny white rodent

THIS is the hilarious moment a cute pooch comes face to face with a hamster - and is absolutely terrified.

The adorable Bernese Mountain Dog can't even look at the white rodent as its persistent owner, Songyi, thrusts it towards his face in an attempt to introduce them.

After staring wide-eyed at the small hamster, the mutt turns his head away, desperately trying to avoid getting any closer to it.

Meanwhile his canine pal appears to be less traumatised by the presence of the rodent as it pokes its nose towards it for a sniff.

But despite giggles from the person behind the camera, the six-year-old pup repeatedly shakes his head and backs away from the tiny hamster.

The amusing video was uploaded to Instagram, where it received more than 232,000 views.

One user wrote: "Your dog is so cute. His reaction is priceless."

But while most found it funny, others criticised the owner for causing the dog "distress" for the sake of getting views.
