Lion's at play Hard ! - Lion Crossing Hard.

 

Taken at Linton Zoo near Cambridge. These African Lions are Zuri and Safina and are incredible to watch. We went to an after hours Big Cat feeding experience a few years ago and the speed at which they exited their house and chased down their meal, was breathtaking. The Conservation Park is temporarily closed at time of comment (#covid19) but check out their website and go visit or donate to support their incredible work.

The scientific name for lions is Panthera leo. The genus Panthera is of Greek origin and comprises big cat species such as tigers, lions, jaguars, and leopards that have the ability to roar. Leo is the Latin word for lion.

There are two types of lion subspecies. One is named Panthera leo melanochaita and lives across South and East Africa. The second lion subspecies has the scientific name Panther Leo and lives in West Africa, Central Africa, and Asia.
