Both were brought from Siberia to North America by the Thule people 1,000 years ago, while the Greenland Dog arrived in Greenland with the Inuit people 4,000 to 5,000 years ago. Today, although several projects preserve the breed’s sledding culture, knowledge, and use and it remains a companion dog in many parts of the world, its population is decreasing due to climate change.
