After all the humans died, the machines continued to tend to the cattle in a symphony of automation. The camera pans across the automated barn, the cows look well fed & tranquil. The camera continues panning to the milk vats which are overflowing. The camera now follows the flow of milk down the sides of stylish & shiny vats into a drain.

I find the treatment of not only Dairy cattle but Beef cattle so calm and humane. This is, in thanks, to an autistic woman named Temple Grandin. There was a film made about her starring Claire Danes. She designed much of the equipment used in the cattle industry that is still in use today starting with her “squeezing machine”. The piece of equipment at 3:19 looks like one. The cows head sticks out but pressure is applied to the sides of the animal. It promotes a calming effect. Pretty cool just so that the animals, especially in the beef industry, could die with calmness and dignity.

That machine is far to slow to be practical for a dairy operation. I can only imagine how expensive it would be to have a 30 cow parlor using that thing, not to mention all the mastitis and other issues it would be completely oblivious too. its a cool proof of concept, but really unpractical in its current form.
